Basket Weaving

Basket weaving is a craft with a long history dating back thousands of years, in which naturally grown materials such as reeds, willow, grass and cane, are plaited, woven, twisted, bent and coiled to create containers or even furniture. The objects created are usually functional but they can also hold symbolic value. Basketry still survives as a heritage craft today, with skills being passed down through generations.
