I love making table runners! For me, they are the perfect combination of patchwork piecing and quilting. Once I’ve settled on a design, I really enjoy selecting fabrics that will contrast and compliment each other. I then cut them up and sew them back together in a different order! My artistry doesn’t end there though, because I then consider how to quilt the piece. Sometimes I decide on a relatively simple grid or straight lines design, whereas other times I might quilt an all-over free motion design of swirls, leaves or perhaps something else!

Beautiful purple and green quilted patchwork table runner.
I've pieced a braid effect central panel using eight different toning floral fabrics. I've bordered the central panel with sashing strips in complementary plain light green and purple fabrics, before adding another patchwork surround using some of the floral fabrics again. Finally I've added a dark green binding strip all the way around the edges.
I've quilted all of the top seams and these quilting lines are visible on the reverse side, making the runner reversible for whenever you fancy a change.
This table runner measures 34" (86cm) long by 18" (46cm) wide.
