I love making table runners! For me, they are the perfect combination of patchwork piecing and quilting. Once I’ve settled on a design, I really enjoy selecting fabrics that will contrast and compliment each other. I then cut them up and sew them back together in a different order! My artistry doesn’t end there though, because I then consider how to quilt the piece. Sometimes I decide on a relatively simple grid or straight lines design, whereas other times I might quilt an all-over free motion design of swirls, leaves or perhaps something else!

Spring Daffodil quilted patchwork table runner, entirely handmade by me.
Measures 53" (134cm) long x 15" (38cm) wide.
100% cotton.
I've constructed this lovely table runner with a selection of Liberty Lasenby Cotton floral fabrics in shades of blue and white, including a daffodil print. I cut the fabric into squares and then pieced them together in a grid pattern. I then panelled this section with a co-ordinating teal coloured border from Makower's Linen Texture range. A layer of soft wadding was then sandwiched between the top panel and reverse panel, which is a soft green cotton fabric by Janet Clare.
I quilted the squares patterned section and the border with straight lines.
Finally, I added a soft bound edging in a co-ordinating Liberty cotton daffodil print.
Hand washable.
