I love making table runners! For me, they are the perfect combination of patchwork piecing and quilting. Once I’ve settled on a design, I really enjoy selecting fabrics that will contrast and compliment each other. I then cut them up and sew them back together in a different order! My artistry doesn’t end there though, because I then consider how to quilt the piece. Sometimes I decide on a relatively simple grid or straight lines design, whereas other times I might quilt an all-over free motion design of swirls, leaves or perhaps something else!

Thirties style quilted patchwork table runner, entirely handmade by me.
Measures 27" (68.5cm) long x 18.25" (47cm) wide.
100% cotton. Hand washable.
Features a lovely selection of printed patchwork cotton squares in 1930's inspired fabric designs and colours.
I've pieced and quilted the squares in a grid formation and added a wide border of Liberty Lasenby cotton in a contrasting shade, which I've then quilted with straight lines.
Finally I added a matching binding strip all the way around the runner to cover the raw edges.
