I've recently got into making tea cosies, started with one for myself for my work teapot, made a couple on request for a friend, I then found I couldn’t stop so here I am with a folksy shop!
This lovely bright yellow yarn reminded me of a duck so that’s what I went for, no pattern just ‘winged it’ as I went – I know, I should be on the stage!
Created as I went, I considered doing him sideways on to the teapot but decided he was absolutely having wings which would have got in the way of the spout and handle. This did mean that the spout would stick out of the chest but I thought I’d get away with it, lots of cosies are styled that way. If you have an innocent mind, I will say no more…

Full description
Novelty tea cosy crocheted in acrylic DK yarn, I called him Duck Norris but he’ll answer to anything!
A fun gift for the duck lover in your life or a gift to yourself if you are that duck lover.
I made it to fit a medium sized 4-6 cup teapot, Price & Kensington brand to be specific but does also fit the other generic teapots I use as models for my woolly wonders.
There is a hole at the front for the spout and a flap at the back with button closure to allow for the handle
But will it keep your tea hot?
It will to a point. It is mostly double layers of stitching due to the wings and only single layer on the chest and tail area. It will keep it hotter than using nothing at all but not as hot as a lined, insulated one.
I couldn’t say how long it will keep your teapot hot for as I haven’t done any scientific testing, just personal use of a single strand thin cosy which lasts up to 40-50mins because it never takes me any longer than that to polish off a full pot by myself!
What’s stopping you from buying him? Look into his eyes, not around the eyes, into the eyes…3, 2, 1 you’re back in the room (and hopefully the new owner of Duck Norris).
It can be washed by hand. For my own personal ones I only spot wash the tea stains under a tap with a dot of washing-up liquid. Never had a problem doing that.
PLEASE NOTE, LISTING IS FOR THE TEA COSY ONLY TO FIT YOUR OWN 4-6 CUP (2 pint/1.2 litre) TEAPOT
Will post using Royal Mail Tracked 48.
