Even fairly small pieces of wood have the potential to be made into something beautiful. I like the variety of colour that walnut gives and this contrasts with the close-grain, pale holly inlay.

I like the combination of using modern laser cutting together with simple hand tools.

Full description

Made with 'upcycled' wood (offcuts from a musical instrument build). This piece of beautifully-figured Walnut is inlayed with a stag's head in Holly. The dark Walnut contrasts with the pale and subtly-figured Holly and brings out the details of the design. The inlay grain runs perpendicular to the background walnut which I thing gives a really nice effect - my photos don't really do justice to the colours of the wood!

A plywood backing gives a bit more stiffness.

I've added a bracket to the back to allow it to be hung on a wall.

140 x 110 x 3 mm solid walnut. A natural finishing oil has been applied (about 5 coats) to give a satin finish.
