Hello!
I am Lana, a self taught lampwork glass artist who has been making beads from molten glass since 2013 under the instruction of my present manager (cat!) called Louie.
My profession is a Registered Veterinary Nurse, which I have made my career for over 30 years, caring for our furry friends and helping to make them better or prevent them becoming unwell in the first place.
The jewellery making began in 2012 as a way to unwind from the pressures of work and life, I love all things shiny and sparkly, so playing with my own sparkly bits was the next logical step!
I had a day class from a local lampwork artist and absolutely loved it, spending the next few years making strange shaped beads unintentionally (my organic phase!), but practice makes perfect, well as perfect as I like it to be as handmade is not perfect!
I am inspired in my beads by the world around me - the nice bits anyway, and often by how my glass rods sit across each other gives me colour inspiration. My picture of the workshop has a fairly neat work bench, it is normally piled up more until I have a days tidy up!
