Hi my name is Jo.
A huge welcome to my Folksy shop! I have recently transferred from Etsy to Folksy as it fits better with the handmade, unique and attention to detail ethos that I believe in.
I hope you love my products as much as I enjoy making them for you.
I originally trained and worked as a graphic designer before having my children. Whilst I was on maternity leave I decided to retrain and now work as a Midwife for the NHS.
However I never lost my passion for making things and continued to make decorative items for my house, as well as those of my friends and family. In 2014 I started making items to sell, partly in response to my hubby saying we don't need any more cushions - not sure I agree on that though ....
I use a mixture of machine free-hand embroidery on raw edge applique, hand embroidery and crochet. And I love using different colour and patterns and the odd button to finish.
I am happy to work on commission either for a new design or if you see an item on my page and would like it in a different colour theme, just send me a message and we can discuss what you want.
Oh ... and in case you were wondering ... 'Red Dog Sews' is named after my big Irish Setter who sits at my feet in my little sewing room. He puts up with being covered in bits of thread and me tripping over him as long as he gets the occasional pat.
