Paper maid is all about making with Paper.

My family and I have always been creative and mainly had to do this on a budget, this is where paper comes into it!
I use recycled, unwanted, old books, paper, newspaper, junk mail, card, card tubes, etc.. to make decorative items.
I love Paper Mache, pottery and ceramics, I knew I wasn't going to be able to have a kiln for firing pottery so I decided to experiment creating items with paper and glue and I love it.
Most people will think of Papier Mache as child's play, and let's face it, it is and it should be as it is so enjoyable to do with children, but it can be taken a step further and it is time it was appreciated for what it is, this art has been around for centuries to make many decorative and useful objects, even furniture. Today, there are lots of famous PM artists out there, who take this medium to a whole different level. It is time consuming but very therapeutic.
I work mainly in a tiny shed in our garden, boiling in the summer, cold in the winter, but a great escape to another world, usually with my dog sat snuggled up in my chair!
I sometimes use paper pulp and paper clay as well as Paper Mache. It's a great way to recycle unwanted or discarded things, I can't look at anything now without wondering if it can be made into an animal, creature or something decorative or useful, oops! must dash, better stop that cereal box from hitting the bin.....
