Handwoven, pure wool cowl
MARETHDALE£62.00
I am inspired by the landscape where I live which is close to the Yorkshire dales and the Lake District and also the very beautiful Morecambe Bay. Eight years ago I I acquired my flock of Shetlands, processing their fleeces myself - washing, combing, carding and ultimately spinning it into skeins so you too can enjoy and appreciate their beautiful wool.
Marethdale is the culmination of my love of wool, particularly from the British Isles and especially from my sheep.
I love to weave and I am lucky enough to be able to demonstrate weaving at the wonderful Farfield Mill in Sedbergh once a week. I also have a 4 shaft floor loom at home as well and always have something on my knitting needles.
I am a one-of-a-kind maker which means any woven or knitted pieces are unique in one way or another. My handwoven skeins of Shetland wool are all subtly different even though they may look similar but they all mix and match beautifully and even the coloured yarns have that quality to a certain extent. This is the magic that means you can have your very own unique handmade, handcrafted item.
I live in a small village and its name means the innermost corner of a valley, with a husband a cat and a dog. In the summer I can be found in the garden or rambling about the countryside and trying to get fleeces washed and dried - all these with varying amounts of success and very much depending on the weather!
