I am a self taught artist working in a variety of differing textile mediums including embroidery, basketry, weaving, quilting, felt making and paper making
Many of the mediums are seen by some as more typically female or feminine pursuits which has attracted me to learning about them and challenging these perceptions
The focus of my work currently is weaving and I use a number of different handheld looms of varying sizes
I particularly enjoy the repetitive nature of weaving, working in an intuitive way by choosing yarns randomly and simply following the process
Weaving has become my therapy and given me a focus after a long career in healthcare
I prefer to use natural fibres but will often incorporate synthetic and manmade materials into my work where they have been found, donated or thrifted so that they can be reused and given a new purpose rather than discarded

Such a beautifully handcrafted card, the recipient was thrilled. Eye-catching and understated at the same time, it's a little work of art. Postage was included in the price, such good value and you can't find anything near as nice in the shops.
I will definitely buy again from this lovely artisan.
