Hi, I'm Heather. My creative journey started when I was a Printmaking student at the Maidstone College of Art. As a first year student, I won first prize for my silkscreen entry in a national printmaking competition run by the Royal College of Art.
I then trained at Goldsmiths' as an Art teacher and worked for the next 20 years at a local secondary school progressing to the position of Head of Art and Head of Year.
When I retired, I decided to learn a new skill using fused glass to further my creativity and embrace a new medium. I enrolled at a local adult education centre and enjoyed the course so much that I have now purchased my own kiln and a lot of my work is now produced at home. Recently, I entered a fused glass piece of an Ammonite into a local Art/Craft exhibition and was awarded a trophy for best 3D in show.
The type of work I now produce includes framed paintings within glass, freestanding discs, individually designed bowls and shallow dishes. Every piece has been planned out in meticulous detail from conception to realisation.
