Hi, I’m Kate, the maker behind Cursed by Kate. I’m based in Dorset, where I design and create gothic-inspired book accessories from my little home workspace (usually with a cup of tea and at least one child asking where their socks are).

I’ve always loved books, design, and anything with a slightly darker aesthetic, so combining those passions led to the creation of this small, handmade business. Everything you’ll find in my shop is designed, printed, cut and finished by me—no mass production here, just thoughtful, high-quality pieces for readers who like things a little bit different.

I started out simply making things for myself, then friends started asking for them, and before long, I realised I’d stumbled into something I genuinely love doing. Now I get to create pieces that make other readers smile, and that’s honestly the best part.

I work from home, balancing family life (and my very needy dog, Ozzy), so every item you receive has been made in real life, not in a factory. I take pride in attention to detail, premium finishes, and that little gothic twist.
