Handwoven &Handstitched with Sustainably Sourced Yarns : transformed into bags, cushions & scarves

My weaving journey started in Canada in the 1970's at the end of a world trip. I met an inspiring woman who introduced me to natural dyeing, spinning and weaving to keep me occupied in a very snowy winter. Back in the UK, I bought a floor loom and went of a weaving course and off I went! For several years I made and sold jackets, suits and other clothing items. I also did lots of spinning and natural dyeing.

A break of several decades to work and have a family - I am now settled in north Lancashire, UK, near the fells of the Lakes, the shores of Morecambe Bay and the moors of Yorkshire. Weaving has now re-emerged and after a design course with the Open College of Art and several workshops on various techniques of printing, stitching and more, I'm settling into weaving fabric using sustainably sourced yarns.

The yarns I use are from local suppliers where ever possible. This is feasible for wool and alpaca but more challenging for linen which is rarely produced now locally but I sustainably source this from Ireland. I also get yarn from recycled shoddy wool. The pieces I make are one off - rarely a repeat.

I just love the challenge of new designs, patterns and making. It keeps my 75 year old brain active as do the grandchildren and my beloved spaniel, Poppy who gets me out for woodland and shore walks daily. I hope you enjoy my work which I'm keen to share.
