I'm Helen and I'd like to welcome you to my new shop here on Folksy ~ Wave to Nature.
I chose this name as I love to make jewellery and other designs from shells, leaves and flowers ranging from items found in the waves on the beach to the leaves on the trees in the forest. I love working with silver clay which is made from recycled silver and, wherever possible, I use ethically sourced genuine gemstones, which supports the mining communities and helps the environment.
I've always been into crafty things from a very young age. After a couple of years experimenting with polymer clay I started making jewellery with it and found it was such a delight to work with all the wonderful colours. I then stumbled upon silver clay one day whilst surfing the internet and was intrigued to find out how to work with it. Once I found a local workshop I decided I'd give it a go and it was such an exciting medium to work with. That was back in 2007 and since then I've taken several more workshops and also passed my Level 1 Art Clay Instructor certificate back in 2008.
I also work with fused glass in my designs and am still learning how to work best with this temperamental but stunning medium. I mostly like to portray the ocean, beaches and sea creatures in my glass designs along with other effects.
I have worked on many new ideas and designs with my jewellery over the years and am always thinking up new ones as there are no limits to what you can make, just in what you are capable of doing so learning new skills keeps the journey alive. I am always learning more about silver clay, glass, polymer clay and all sorts of natural materials such as gemstones, fossils and leaves that can be used in jewellery-making and hope that people will like what I make. I think it is important that I enjoy creating and love what I make - only then will I know my heart and soul have gone into it and hopefully that will show in the end product for you to enjoy too.
