About Turner Round Wood Turning

Turner Round Wood Turning

From Flight Line to Lathe. 14 years RAF Aircraft Technician. 25 years Master Woodturner. Precision-engineered art from the heart of Suffolk.

From the Flight Line to the Lathe: The Art of Brian Evans

My work is an intersection of two lives. For over 25 years, I have been a master woodturner, but my heart has always belonged to the raw untamed beauty of timber.

My passion has always been in creating natural or live-edge bowls and platters, working with woods that possess unique coloration or rare grain patterns to let the timber dictate its own final form.

This respect for organic complexity is balanced by a 14-year career as a Royal Air Force Airframe Technician. Having maintained the structural integrity of legendary aircraft- including the Phantom, Victor, Puma, and Tornado (F2, F3, and GR4), I bring a technician's unforgiving eye of precision to everything I create.

Today, under the TurnerRound WoodTurning brand, these two worlds colide.

I specialize in two distinct but connected fields:

The Rare Grain & Character Wood Series: Museum-quality live-edge bowls and platters that celebrate the "chaotic" beauty of ancient British burrs, spalted beech, and olive ash.

The Heritage Collection: A process I call "Industrial Alchemy," where I reclaim retired aviation and automotive components, from Tornado turbine housings to BRM V16 cylinder liners, and marry them with rare timber.

Based in my private Suffolk workshop, I create one-of-a-kind functional sculptures for those who appreciate both the history of engineering and the raw elegance of nature.

Every piece is a titled, one-off edition, finished to the highest professional standards.
