Botanical art, pressed flowers
The Dartmoor Herbarium£85.00
Throughout the Spring, Summer and Autumn on Dartmoor, time is spent collecting leaves and flowers from the garden and pressing them slowly and traditionally in vintage and home-made flower presses, in preparation for the long winters, which can be very wet and dismal on the high moor.
It’s a slow process from field to finish, but brings the garden indoors and preserves the beauty of the changing seasons.
Alongside botanical compositions, I create tiny batch, natural dyes from my own harvested plants and leaves.
Each composition is unique, locally foraged and made from non-toxic and acid-free art materials, sourced from British companies.
All artwork comes with a description of the natural materials used, date and location of collection and notes of interest.
