Jewellery boxes are made from FSC®-certified cardboard and water-based glue. Jewellery box inserts are made from tall oil, a by-product of wood pulp industry. All paper, card, glue, inks and delivery boxes used are made from recycled materials.

My name is Stephanie co-founder of Kandoarts, a Community Interest Company that provides art workshops, shadow theatre, projection mapping, mask, puppets, performance, drama and education shows. Shards is a personal project that has naturally evolved from many years of developing Kandoarts and brings together my passion for arts activities and collecting.

I love the idea something broken and forgotten is then found by chance and shaped into something new. Shards is a collection of broken ceramics that have started new lives.

Ceramic materials collected are thoroughly cleaned, sanded and sealed. Every shard is dated, when and how found, and any relevant information recorded. The entire process is a creative experience from discovery to final piece, nothing planned or preconceived. All materials personally collected from river banks, charity shops, roadside, woods, recycle centres, beaches, wherever dropped, dumped or donated.

Jewellery pieces are varied and completely unique. Earrings are Sterling Silver and brooches/pins are stainless steel. When creating jewellery I take a lot of time just looking at the shards of ceramic. All materials collected are kept in sorting boxes I call ‘families’, every shard is part of a family whether its from the same plate/pot or the same day I found it on the river bank.

Earrings are created from the same family, similar shape shards are matched together by pattern or shape but the earrings will not match exactly. I particularly love making earrings and pins from ceramics found in rivers, I absolutely love collecting the pieces and bringing them back into being.

Framed Art pieces are titled to reflect what I see and come with bio of where the ceramic came from, known history, original information and when the artwork was created. Some ceramics collected are used as found, while others are cut randomly which will shape the final picture.

Every piece I create is individual, nothing replicated, however, due to repetitive patterns in ceramics there will be some similarity but only through the ceramic material not in the final piece.

All materials used to present Jewellery are made from 100% recycled including any tissue/tape and labels/ink for packaging and are fully recyclable.
