About Ruth Mott Glass

Ruth Mott Glass

Welcome to my online shop, I hope you find something that makes you feel good!

I've coveted fused glass jewellery since I first saw it in my teens and bought several pieces from other artists in my life to commemorate the big moments in my life.

In my forties I saved up my wages from my corporate job and eventually bought a kiln and converted a room in my Appleton, Cheshire house into a home studio. Over several years I have learned how to now make pieces I am proud to wear, give as gifts and sell.

I listen to music and spend hours crafting each piece before it goes into the kiln to cook for several hours at around 800 degrees C. Then the glass is slowly cooled in a controlled way until it is a temperature I can work with and made into jewellery pieces. Sometimes going in the kiln's searing heat again for a final sizzling fire-polish.

I hope you will find as much joy and comfort in wearing or gifting these pieces as I find making them, this is the opposite of a factory made soulless piece, each piece is absolutely unique and individually made by myself so every purchase supports British Art and real human work, thank you for looking!
