Sketching the stories of cities lost to time

My name is Siu Nin Law. My shop called Hissketch from historical sketch.

I was born and brought up in Hong Kong. My passion has always been drawing, photography and visual arts. In particular, I'm interested in documentary photography. I have worked as a documentary cameraman in Hong Kong for over 20 years, traveling to different parts of the world, capturing diverse stories in different places. Now I have settled in Aberdeen for about three years.

I have a deep appreciation for history and old stories. I love old cityscapes, which hold countless historical tales. Sadly, many old buildings in my home town have faded away with time. Looking at old photographs often stirs up memories and moments that have almost been forgotten.

I therefore love sketching old buildings and cityscapes. It's like bringing them back to life, inviting people to take a pause and connect with the past. The process also allows me to learn more about the many stories of the past, as exhibited in tiny details like vintage advertisements, statues, and buildings.

Our lives are fleeting, but through these small sketches, I aspire to preserve glimpses of the past, allowing others to reflect on times gone by.
